As an artist, good light is a big part of creating art!
Good light, inspires, uplifts, rejuvenates and motivates.
I have been using a lot of artificial light and can recall summer months of long hours of daylight, and an energetic creative enthusiasm.
Light is also colour. That wonderful colour spectrum, which makes it possible for us to see colour.
"We see color because, when light hits a surface, certain wave-lengths are absorbed by the constituent material of that surface, while others are reflected. We see a blue surface because that surface reflects blue light waves and absorbs all the others. We see a red surface because that surface reflects red light waves and absorbs all the others. We see a black surface because it absorbs all light rays, and we see a white surface because it reflects all the light rays. It is the different combinations of absorbed and reflected light waves that enable us to see different colors. This sensation of color is transmitted through the eye to the brain. The inside layer at the back of the eye, the retena, is made up of nerve cells. These are sensitive to the varying light wavelengths. When we see a certain color, these cells relay the color wavelength information, via the optic nerve, to the brain, where the information is assimilated and the color is recognised." -excert taken from the book, "Color mixing bible" by Ian Sidaway.

I find myself using brighter colours in winter because there is less around me.

I am working on this self portrait piece, which is still in the early stages really.
I also have been working on other pieces. I finished a commission landscape, but am waiting for a day with good sunshine to photograph the dog that will be added to this. I had photo's that I have decided aren't good enough. I'm very happy with the landscape. Prints will be available of this soon.

January was productive really, some paintings framed and some new prints avaliable on my Etsy. https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Artbybradshaw
Here I am holding a print at a spot local to me, an autumn tree line which I painted. It was great to go back with the painting and the prints and see the tree's.

There are more prints I'm working on adding to my print shop on Etsy too. Plus paintings that will be framed and avaliable soon too.

This is one of the latest paintings which is now framed and on here and will be on my eBay also. For international sales please use my Ebay and there global shipping programme. I package my art very safely and have had no problems. Even with a painting which I received good feedback on from a collector in Japan who purchased the art via Ebay. My website here is set up for UK delivery only at the moment.
I am very thankful that my work is appreciated, and that I can share my passion for art and my wonder and enthusiasm for the beautiful creations around me. Which inspire me to create, and be greatful for my life everyday. Supporting my art means I can continue creating, developing and improving my skills. Thanks to all those who have.
Art is a good mindfulness tool and can be helpful to improve mood and process emotions. Mental health is a common struggle, spending time in nature and creating art is vital to me being healthy and happy. Enjoying art and making work which people will enjoy is my passion.
Happy February!

Life is good. Beauty is all around.
Take care, God bless
Do not hesitate to contact me about art available, or about commission requests or creative collaborations!
